Hey gang!
First of all, I recently had the awesome opportunity to screenprint these posters designed by artist Joshua Ray Stephens for the AUX 4 experimental arts festival here in Athens, GA:
So other than that, for one of my classes, I was asked to make magnets with a "springtime" theme. Maybe I'm just jaded, but I thought that was a little cheesy, so I got kind of "creative" with my springy magnets. Here's Spring, but why is there a knife in her mouth?

This next on was my roommate's (brilliant) idea:
And this quaint little Easter scene was mine:
Here are a couple more 35mm photographs! First, the always-unnerving Patrick:
Here's my awesome dad, working in his woodshop:
This is a photograph taken by photographer Diane Arbus:
And here's my copycat version (with aforementioned awesome roommate Lauren):
And for the last photo, a self portrait. Embarrassing. Thanks Kathryn for helping me on this one!
But what's even more embarrassing than a self portrait? A video blog. Yep, I've thought for a long time that making a vlog would be fun, if not pretty self-indulgent. So I'm going to try and give it a shot. Nothing deep, just a kind of anecdotal diary-type thing. Anyway, here's the first one:
I just think your art is fantastic. And hilarious. As was your video blog. I get judged. But never has someone blatantly said it to my face. haha! You're cool.
ReplyDeleteOk I have to separate this comment in 5 sections:
ReplyDelete1- Im loving those posters, do they sell them online?
2- I love your interpretation of "Springtime", while I first thought of flowers and bunnies, you gave me murder. I'm loving that!
3- As I have said before, your photography is stunning, as the child of a photographer I feel a nostalgic when I see good black and white portraits. They remind me of my dad.
4- I like your vlog! You should do it more often.
5- What was that guy wearing? Was he dressed like a stereotype smoker? I dont even know what the would look like, maybe wearing a black shirt with the sleeves folded, ohh wait...thats Johnny Depp in "Cry Bay" :S
Yay, thanks, you guys! I'm glad you liked everything :D I think they might start selling those posters at the AUX website I linked to, but I'm not sure when, hmm...
ReplyDeleteAnd the guy WAS, in fact, wearing a black shirt with folded up sleeves! And a gray shirt, and a hat...hmmmm, maybe I should have been able to tell from looking that he smoked...
Cool, cool stuff.
ReplyDeleteI cracked up at "chint." DEFINITELY sounds like a racial slur. "You god damn chint!!"
I had to type "plimpton" to past the link to my blog on facebook. Sounds like a name for the "down and out nerd character" in a "hilariously dry comedy" book or something.
Oh! And...I meant to say this but I got distracted by Plimpton. The poster looks fine! What were you so worried about, fool!?
ReplyDeletethat videoblog. rocked. my. world.
